Training starts at 7pm prompt. Track fee is £4.10 per person or free if you hold a fully paid up Leicester Leisure Card. There is also a monthly subscription deal with Leicester City Gyms, including a corporate membership deal for West End Runners (see your local gym for more information).
Sessions typically consist of a brief introduction followed by a group warm up involving dynamic exercises and drills designed to improve your running. We recommend that everyone jogs at least 3 – 4 times around the track in preparation BEFOREHAND, especially useful for those looking for extra mileage.
All abilities are welcome. Sessions can be adapted so the more advanced runners cover a greater distance with shorter recoveries whilst the others tend to do slightly less or have greater recoveries. Sessions over the July/August period cover the staple 5 - 10k range and are useful for all endurance runners looking forward to the ongoing Summer road races and Autumn half/full marathons.
The session usually finishes by 8:10pm. Bring training kit suitable for the cool down and a Garmin or stop watch would be useful. Remember to drink plenty of fluids during the warmer days to maintain optimum hydration beforehand.
Please be prompt when preparing to start your session. If you are running late, no problem the Burpee Base awaits you!
