West End Runners, is a friendly adult only running club located in the East Midland city of Leicester,  formed in March 1984. The original idea for the club came from a community initiative between Norfolk Street Police Station and Leicester City Council.

The Club deliberately set out to be different than the then traditional Harrier style clubs by aiming to attract members from with a wide range of abilities and not just from the faster elite runners. This ethos remains today.

The first meeting took place in the back of the late Dave Lem's running shop, transferring a few weeks later to the West End Neighbourhood Centre. The jogging boom of the early 1980s ensured the club grew quickly and In 1999, the Club moved to its current location in the purpose-built sporting facilities of Leicester Rowing Club.

One of the initial aims of the club was to encourage running of all kinds from 3-mile fun runs to full marathons, and this is still true today with the club taking part in the Leicester Road Running League, the Derby Runner Cross-country League, parkruns and more.

The club's main running night is Wednesday when we meet at the rowing club at 7:15 pm.
