SWITHLAND 10k – SUNDAY 6th JUNE 2010 – 10.30am

HALSTEAD ROAD PLAYING FIELD

We hope your run and everyone else’s will be successful and enjoyable, to help ensure this please take note of the following IMPORTANT information.

If you are unfortunate enough to be unable to run DO NOT LET ANYONE ELSE USE YOUR NUMBER WITHOUT GETTING THE DETAILS CHANGED, BEFORE THE RACE DAY IF POSSIBLE OR ON THE DAY AT THE ENTRY DESK.

Parking - Halstead Road Playing Fields - There is very limited parking on the playing field car park but plenty of parking will be available on the grass if the field is dry.
There is only one entrance so please do not go onto the playing field if only dropping off.  If using nearby roads please park with respect to the residents and well clear of the route.

Facilities- Two small changing rooms are available with limited showers and toilets. There are three more toilets at the back of the changing room building. Light refreshments will be available, hot and cold drinks and some snacks.

Start line safety- The start is on Halstead road at Walton Way roundabout and is about 300 metres from the playing fields. The congregating area will be on the footpath/grass verge of Walton Way. Marshals will be roping off the area so to ensure your safety please take care when making your way to the start area and remain within the roped off area once you are there. There are no toilets at the start line.

The Route- The course uses the popular Swithland 6 route with a little extra. Please be aware that the potholes and raised stones on the unmade road after the reservoir, between 1.5 and 2.5 miles, are very bad and care is needed. The finish is on Halstead Road at the roundabout, stay on the right hand footpath when you turn back into Halstead road. After you finish be aware of other road users for your own safety and as a courtesy to them, take care as you return to the playing fields. Please give some space (and some encouragement!) to slower runners who are still racing if you are warming down on the route.

Prizes- Every finisher will receive a memento to our usual high standard.
This year it will be a towel and an ice pack which we hope the latter you will never need to use.

There will be cash or voucher prizes for the winners and age categories as follows:-

The 1^st woman will also receive the Di Jackson Memorial Trophy.

MEN’S TEAM (4 to count), WOMEN’S TEAM (3 to count) – A bottle of wine each.
